A.O. Smith CEO to keynote BizTimes M&A Forum

Event will focus on keys for deciding to buy, sell or hold

Ajita Rajendra, the chairman and chief executive officer of Milwaukee-based A.O. Smith Corp., will be the keynote speaker at the annual BizTimes Media M&A Forum.

The M&A Forum will be held from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, April 21, at the Milwaukee Marriott Downtown hotel. The event is sponsored by Bank Mutual, Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c. and Schenck M&A Solutions. TEC and the Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership are event partners.

The event is designed to help buyers and sellers learn what they need to know as they consider their options and move through the process. Each year, the M&A Forum provides insight on a host of buy-sell concerns, from exit strategies to finding the perfect acquisition.

In addition to Rajendra’s remarks, the M&A Forum will also feature two panel discussions.

The first panel will discuss uncertainties of selling and life after a sale. The panelists will include: Tom Campion, managing director of Merit Capital Partners; Scott Happ, CEO of Optimal Blue and Jim McCormack, chairman of Diversified Insurance Solutions. The discussion will be moderated by Andrea Wolf, vice president of commercial banking for Bank Mutual.

The second panel will discuss options for business sellers. The panelists will include Steve Heinen, managing director of First Capital Partners; Larry Burnett, shareholder and corporate law practice co-chair for Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c. and Dave Rolston, president and CEO of Hatco Corp. The discussion will be moderated by Ann Hanna, managing director of Schenck M&A Solutions.

The M&A Forum will also include these breakout sessions:

  • The Nuts and Bolts of Buying a Business, moderated by Nathan Neuberger, shareholder, Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c. and Mike Wirth, director of Mason Wells.
  • Run It To Sell It, moderated by Mark Bruss, vice president, Bank Mutual; and Larry Burnett, shareholder and corporate law practice co-chair, Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c.
  • Driving Value Through Price and Structure, moderated by Ann Hanna, managing director, Schenck M&A Solutions and Corey Vanderpoel, managing director, Schenck M&A Solutions.
