Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) reported that the number of banks on its “Problem List” in the second quarter declined to 865 in the second quarter from 888 at the end of the first quarter. It was the first decline in that number since the third quarter of 2006, possibly signifying a turning point for the health of the financial services industry.
