The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile has been around since 1936 and for many people, the traveling frankfurter carries with it fond childhood memories as well.
“I think a lot of people come (to see the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile) because they saw it when they were younger,” said Hotdogger Emma Cuellar, 23. “It’s a lot of ‘I remember when’s.’ (The parents) experienced it when they were little and they want their kids to experience it as well.”
The Wienermobile made a stop in Sheboygan at the south-side Piggly Wiggly on Sunday and drew what Cuellar deemed an impressive crowd.
“We arrived at 10:30 a.m., a little earlier than we were supposed to begin, and already there was a line,” she said.
About 70 people were already in line waiting to see the historic hot dog. And the long line held steady throughout the morning and early afternoon.
