8th Annual Life Lights Candlelit Stroll

Description: Horizon Home Care & Hospice’s 8th annual Life Lights event includes dinner, a one-mile candlelit sunset stroll, candle lighting ceremony and slide show to celebrate and memorialize the lives of loved ones lost. Community members, whether or not able to attend, are invited to submit photos of loved ones for the commemorative slide show. Email photos to lifelights@hhch.net or send by mail to Horizon Home Care & Hospice, Attention: Life Lights, 11400 West Lake Park Drive, Milwaukee, WI, 53224. Photos will be returned, and the deadline for photo submissions is August 29. Please include the loved one’s name and a special statement of no more than 10-12 words (for example, “Best chef on the planet” or “Made me smile every day” or “Loving father & husband”).

Description: Milwaukee Children’s Choir—Internationally-acclaimed choral conductor and Artistic Director/Founder of Indianapolis Children’s Choir, Mr. Henry Leck, brings his unique talents to serve as clinician of the 2nd Annual Milwaukee Choral Conference on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the UW-Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts.
The Milwaukee Choral Conference is an intensive choral workshop for choral conductors, church musicians, and music educators. The conference’s central theme is to provide conversations among school, religious, and community chorus conductors to explore solutions for promoting and preserving choral arts of present and future generations. Milwaukee Children’s Choir will present complimentary performances. Additionally, the public is invited to a community SING-A-LONG of Vivaldi’s GLORIA at The Recital Hall of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Peck School of the Arts, on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 7:15 pm. The SING-A-LONG will be conducted by UWM’s new director of choral activities, Dr. Zachary Durlam. Bring your own score or rent one for $5.
Internationally renowned choral director and clinician Henry Leck is Professor Emeritus of Choral Music at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana and an Honorary Associate Professor at the Hong Kong institute of Teacher Education in Hong Kong, China.
The Milwaukee Choral Conference is a program presented by Milwaukee Children’s Choir (Marco Melendez, Artistic Director) and held at the UW-Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts, 8:30 am – 8:30 pm. Registration includes conference sessions, refreshments, and the community SING-A-LONG.

Salus Schlitz Park Corporate Challenge

The 4th annual Salus Schlitz Park Corporate Challenge brings together some of the state’s most well-known companies for Wisconsin’s only corporate run/walk. The 5K run and two-mile walk rewards company participation, not just speed, and is designed to promote employee health and wellness through competition and camaraderie.

Last year more than 800 runners and walkers participated in the challenge. Forty companies have already signed up teams and among the new ones stepping up to the start line are BMO Global Asset Management, Boldt Construction and Edward Jones. They join a number returning teams including MillerCoors, GE, Milwaukee Electric Tool and Northwestern Mutual, all of which participated in the Corporate Challenge since inception.
